Senior Administrative Assistant (Part-time)

Sterling Heights, MI

Provides a broad range of advanced administrative functions, assists with day-to-day operations in assigned department, and performs other duties as assigned. This is a part-time position that generally works 25 hours per week. Preferred hours are M,T,W,Th,F 10 am-3 pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch. Must be able to work every other Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm (60 minute unpaid lunch).

  • Utilizes department information such as policies, procedures, and programs to provide a wide variety of administrative support and respond to questions through written, verbal, and electronic communication
  • Researches, compiles, and analyzes information, data, and reports
  • Develops, edits, and proofreads reports, letters, and other documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and other software
  • Uses SAP to process timekeeping, reviews for accuracy, follows up with managers as necessary, and runs reports
  • Performs administrative duties, including but not limited to, filing, scanning, copying, faxing, mailing documents, and inputting data
  • Prepares new files as necessary and files and purges documents to maintain compliance requirements
  • Posts jobs on external sites 
  • Updates employee bulletin boards
  • Completes employment verifications
  • Assists in enrolling employees in training, setting up the training room, and ordering supplies as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of experience in a clerical type position or Associate’s degree with three years of related experience
  • Microsoft Word skills to include the ability to create documents
  • Microsoft Excel skills to include the ability to create spreadsheets and formulas and input data
  • Ability to initiate, coordinate between, prioritize among and contribute to several concurrent tasks and/or services some of a large scope
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, quality, and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate, and resolve discrepancies
  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division 
  • Ability to use SAP and myHR software system or must learn within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision when performing job duties
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to conduct all duties in a professional manner at all times
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand spoken English
  • Administrative experience in a HR Department
  • Timekeeping experience
  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel the computer; reach with hands and arms
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform all essential duties and responsibilities
  • This position works in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license with an acceptable record
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to all locations within the portfolio and other locations as required
